SODALITAS is three artists working together in a wide range of media, producing art under one name as if it were created by a sole entity. They began working collaboratively towards the end of 2002, shortly after creating a live/work space together inside a warehouse in East Austin. By incorporating the styles, colors, media, and influences (both aesthetically and conceptually) of the three artists they are developing a kind of group consciousness that is constantly growing stronger and more defined. SODALITAS has always been intrigued with the idea of a group: how it works, what strengthens or weakens it, what is the role of the individual in the context of the group, at what point (and how) does a group begin to work against itself?

SODALITAS is consistently exploring new ways to work as a collective; driven by the belief that with three people focused and engaged in the process of making a work of art, that work will be readily accessible to an exponentially larger audience than had it originated from one person. Their work is colorful and organic, playful yet calculated; with idiosyncrasies and a well defined visual vocabulary that make each piece feel like part of a whole; sometimes like an unfolding narrative, and sometimes like free-verse train of thought, but always engaging, entertaining and thought provoking. Their work deals with a huge range of issues, mostly driven by what surrounds them both locally and globally: urban sprawl, war, mass culture, advertising, capitalism, science, pollution..
